Well I'm going to try to post regularly. Don't hold your breath. I've decided to focus on parenthood and the challenges that come with raising two daughters, along with my journey with depression.
My girls are 12 and 10 years old. My 12 year old has hit puberty and it is a wild, emotional and challenging time. My normally extremely even-tempered child has become an emotional wreck! Tears are flowing (from both of us), hormones are raging and the mouthiness is almost unbearable! It's hard to know what to do at times. We've been pretty leanient about punishments but I'm learning not to be afraid of grounding her. Or taking her phone away. She purchased her own laptop and iPod touch so at times I feel like we can't really take those things away. But that's where the punishment would effect her most. I did ground her last weekend and luckily there were 2 things she wanted to do with friends but didn't get to because she was grounded. Makes the punishment actually feel like a punishment.
My younger one has always been emotional so I'm concerned about how she'll handle puberty. I have a feeling the next 8 years will be a wild ride!
